Free art galleries, library storytimes, warm town pools and active play for older kids: indoor activities around Oakville, sorted by age, with what to check before you go.
Oakville has plenty to do with kids on a nice day. When it rains or the temperature drops, the list gets shorter fast. Here are the indoor options that work for families in Oakville, grouped by age, with the practical details that decide whether a plan works: what’s free, what needs tickets and when places are closed.
We run AeroSports Oakville on Bristol Circle, and it is included below. The free and public options come first.
At a glance
- Oakville Galleries: all ages, free. Closed Sundays, and Mondays are by appointment.
- Oakville Public Library storytimes: babies to age 5, free but ticketed, and tickets are limited.
- Town of Oakville indoor pools: all ages with supervision, paid drop-in. Check leisure swim times and pool status first.
- AeroSports Oakville: toddlers to teens, paid. Check today’s hours and session times.
Oakville Galleries (free, all ages)
Oakville Galleries is a contemporary art gallery with two locations, and admission is always free:
- Centennial Square, 120 Navy Street, downtown.
- Gairloch Gardens, 1306 Lakeshore Road East.
Both are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed Sundays and statutory holidays, and open Mondays by appointment only. The gallery also runs occasional free family drop-in days, such as on Family Day, so check its events listing.
Good to know: parking at Gairloch Gardens is free. At Centennial Square there is paid parking behind the building, off Water Street.
Oakville Public Library (babies to age 5, and PA days)
The library runs free programs for young children. These have included Family Storytime for ages 6 months to 5 years, Babytime for babies up to 12 months, and activity days on school PA days. Storytimes are ticketed and spaces are limited.
The Central Branch shares its address, 120 Navy Street, with the Centennial Square gallery, so the two make an easy downtown morning together.
Good to know: program times change every season, so check opl.ca for the current schedule. Parking is free at every branch except Central, where the first hour is free and metered parking applies after that.
Town of Oakville indoor pools (all ages, with supervision)
The town runs indoor pools at Glen Abbey Community Centre, Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre, Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, and White Oaks Pool. For young children, look for the leisure pools:
- Glen Abbey has a warm 25-metre leisure pool.
- Iroquois Ridge has a separate leisure pool with a water slide.
Good to know: under the town’s posted rules, children 6 and under need a guardian aged 14 or older, and non-swimmers aged 7 to 9 need a guardian in the water. Pools close for maintenance from time to time, so check leisure swim times and any closure notices on oakville.ca before you go.
AeroSports Oakville (toddlers to teens)
Our park at 2679 Bristol Circle is an indoor adventure park built around active play. Here is what fits each age.

Under 5
Toddler Time is a Saturday-morning session for children under 5, and one parent jumps free with each toddler ticket. If you visit outside Toddler Time, there is no minimum age, but toddlers should stay in the dedicated toddler area.
Ages 5 to 9
The Climb & Slide, the interactive floor game, Multiball (a team game where every hit lights up the wall) and freestyle jumping suit younger kids who want to run around.
Ages 10 and up
The Valo Arena is a mixed-reality game space, the first of its kind in Canada. Players move around a projected arena and the game reacts to them. Older kids also like the Ninja Warrior course, dodgeball, Aero Slam basketball, the rock walls and the arcade.
Evenings
Glow in the Dark sessions run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and are open to all ages.
Before you go
- Every jumper needs a signed waiver, and AeroSports grip socks are required.
- Outside food is only allowed for booked birthday parties. The Snack Shack sells food and drinks.
- Check current pricing and deals and the AeroSports Oakville page for today’s hours before you go.
Three rainy-day plans
- A free downtown morning (Tuesday to Saturday): a library storytime at the Central Branch, then Oakville Galleries in the same building.
- Saturday with a toddler: Toddler Time first thing, then a leisure swim later in the day if the timetable allows.
- A teen and a younger sibling: AeroSports, where the older one takes on the Valo Arena or Ninja Warrior while the younger one plays on the Climb & Slide.
