The right birthday party for a three-year-old is a disaster for a thirteen-year-old, and the reverse is just as true. Most party-planning advice ignores that. This guide sorts kids birthday party ideas in Oakville by age, with what tends to work, what tends to flop, and the practical questions that decide whether the day goes smoothly.
We run AeroSports Oakville on Bristol Circle, a short drive from Mississauga and Burlington, so we appear in the age bands where an adventure park makes sense. We also say where it does not.
Ages 3 to 5: short, soft and early
What works: a party that is over before nap time. Ninety minutes is plenty. Soft play, a toddler-only session at an active venue, a backyard with a sprinkler in summer, or a library-style craft morning. Keep the guest list to the child's actual friends plus family; at this age the parents stay, so every invited child is really two or three people.
What flops: anything with a queue, a height minimum or a dark room. Organised games with rules rarely survive contact with a group of four-year-olds.
What to ask a venue: is there a separate area for small children, can parents go in with them, and is there a quiet spot for a child who has had enough.
At AeroSports Oakville: Toddler Time runs on Saturday mornings for children under 5, before the park opens to everyone else, and one parent jumps free with each toddler ticket. For a party at this age, that session plus cake afterwards is a better fit than a full package built for school-age guests. Outside Toddler Time there is no minimum age, but toddlers stay in the dedicated toddler area.
Ages 6 to 8: burn energy, then cake
What works: movement. This is the age where a whole class gets invited and the parents start dropping off instead of staying, so the venue needs to keep fifteen children busy without you refereeing. Trampoline and adventure parks, bowling with bumpers, swimming with a lifeguarded leisure pool, and simple craft parties all do well. Two hours is the sweet spot.
What flops: long sit-down activities, and anything where only one child can play at a time while the others watch.
What to ask a venue: the ratio of activity time to room time, whether a host stays with the group, and whether grip socks or special shoes are needed, because that is a line you need on the invitation.
At AeroSports Oakville: this is the age our parties are built for. Guests spread across freestyle jumping, the Climb & Slide, the interactive floor game and Multiball, then come together in the party room. A party host stays with the group.

Ages 9 to 11: competition and a bit of independence
What works: games with a score. Dodgeball, laser-style team games, ninja courses, go-karts where they exist, escape rooms for smaller groups, or a sports party at a community gym. Nine- to eleven-year-olds want to feel they are running the party, so give them something to compete at and step back. Guest lists get smaller and more specific at this age: a chosen group rather than the whole class.
What flops: anything that reads as a party for little kids. Character themes, structured crafts and "games" led by an adult start to get eye-rolls.
What to ask a venue: which attractions have height minimums (this is the age where some guests clear them and some do not), and whether the group can move between attractions freely or is scheduled.
At AeroSports Oakville: the Valo Arena, the first of its kind in Canada, is the draw at this age. Players move around a projected mixed-reality arena and the game reacts to them, no headsets needed. Add the Ninja Warrior course, dodgeball, Aero Slam basketball, the rock walls and the arcade, and a group of ten can split three ways and still all be busy.
Ages 12 to 14: make it an evening, not a party
What works: calling it a hangout. A small group, an evening time slot, something active and a bit loud, then food. Glow sessions, late bowling, a movie plus dinner, or an afternoon at a venue they picked themselves. The birthday child should choose, and the invitation should come from them, not you.
What flops: a visible party host, a party room with decorations, and anything a younger sibling would also enjoy. Teenagers want the venue, not the package wrapping.
What to ask a venue: whether a group can book an evening session without the full party format, and what the venue's rules are for teens attending without a parent in the building.
At AeroSports Oakville: Glow in the Dark sessions run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and are open to all ages, which gives a teen group the atmosphere without the party-room feel. A package still works if they want the room for food; we just keep the host in the background.
Mixed ages: the sibling problem
Most real guest lists are not one age. There is a younger sibling, an older cousin, a friend's little brother who had to come. The venue that handles this is the one with more than one thing to do, so each child finds their level without the party splitting into two rooms. If you are choosing between a single-activity venue and one with several attractions, the mixed-age guest list is the reason to pick the second.
What to budget for beyond the package price
- Extra guests. Packages are priced for a set number of children, and the birthday child usually counts toward it. Each guest above that number is added per child.
- Socks, shoes or equipment. Some venues include grip socks in the top package only.
- Food beyond the basics. Pizza and juice are usually in; extra pizzas, wings, loot bags and printed invitations are usually extra.
- Outside food. Bringing a cake is normally free. Bringing a full spread may carry a fee unless the package allows it.
- Late changes. Add-ons ordered inside the last day often cost more, and headcount changes have a deadline.
How parties work at AeroSports Oakville
As of November 2026 there are three packages. Total party time runs from two to two and a half hours, with 75 to 90 minutes of jump time and the rest in a party room. The mid-tier package is sized for a larger group. Every package includes a party host, one pizza for every five jumpers, a juice box for every jumper, a glow-in-the-dark T-shirt for the birthday child, digital invitations, a return pass for the birthday child and return coupons for guests. The top package adds grip socks for everyone and lets you bring any nut-free food and drinks; with the other two, cake, cupcakes, cookies, fruit and veggie trays, water and juice boxes come in free and other outside food carries a fee. Pizza add-ons include halal pepperoni and vegetarian options.
Every jumper needs a waiver signed by their own parent or guardian, done online beforehand and valid for a year. Guests should arrive 20 minutes before jump time. The Oakville birthday party page has the full package table, add-on list and terms, and current party deals are on the promotions page. Want to see the rooms first? You can tour the park before booking; contact the park to arrange a time.
How we put this guide together
The age bands come from what our own party team sees work and not work across hundreds of parties a year, and from the questions Oakville and Mississauga parents ask when they book. AeroSports details were checked against our current packages in November 2026; packages change, so the party page is the final word.
