Indoor Things to Do With Kids in Scarborough

Too cold, too wet or too hot to stay outside? These are the indoor places in and around Scarborough that work for toddlers, school-age kids and teens, and what to check before you go.

When the weather rules out the park, Scarborough has more indoor options for kids than most families use. This guide sorts them by age and by what you will actually do there, and lists what to check before you leave the house.

We run AeroSports Scarborough on Birchmount Road, so it is in here. Most of the list, though, is public places: libraries, the zoo and the big pools. They are worth knowing about whichever you choose.

Quick picks by age

  • Under 5: a library KidsStop, or Toddler Time at AeroSports on Saturday mornings.
  • Ages 5 to 9: the Toronto Zoo’s indoor pavilions, a leisure swim, or jumping, slides, mini golf and mini karts.
  • Ages 10 and up: go-karting, laser tag, bazooka ball, ninja courses and VR sports.

Toronto Public Library KidsStops (babies to age 5)

A KidsStop is an interactive early-literacy play space inside a library branch, built around a theme. Four Scarborough branches have one:

  • Scarborough Civic Centre: an environment theme that ties into the wooded area across the street.
  • Cedarbrae: river travel.
  • Albert Campbell: bees and pollinators.
  • Bridlewood: weather.

They are designed for children from birth to five with a parent or caregiver, which makes them a good first outing on a wet morning.

Good to know: the library is free to visit. Branch hours and drop-in programs differ, so check the branch page on tpl.ca first.

Toronto Zoo’s indoor pavilions (all ages)

The Toronto Zoo sits in Scarborough’s northeast corner, in Rouge National Urban Park, and is open year-round. In cold or wet weather the draw is its five indoor tropical pavilions, which the zoo describes as climate-controlled spaces for warming up. The pavilions are separate buildings on a large site, so dress for some walking outside between them.

Good to know: admission is paid and hours change with the season. In October 2026 the zoo listed 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, with last admission an hour before closing. Check torontozoo.com on the day.

Indoor swimming (all ages, with the right supervision)

The City of Toronto runs leisure swims at indoor pools across Scarborough. The Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, at 875 Morningside Avenue on the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, has two 50-metre pools and a dive tank.

Good to know: drop-in swim times change every season, and some times are kept for lessons, members or lane swimming. Look up the current public swim schedule on toronto.ca or tpasc.ca before you pack the swim bag.

AeroSports Scarborough (toddlers to teens)

Our park at 1120 Birchmount Road is an indoor adventure park rather than a playground, which makes it most useful when you have more than one age to keep busy. What suits your kids depends on their age and height.

Toddlers and preschoolers

Toddler Time runs every Saturday morning for children under 5, before the park opens to everyone else. One parent jumps free with each toddler ticket.

Ages 5 to 9

Freestyle jumping, the slides, the ninja maze and the 9-hole mini golf course are the usual starting points. Mini Karting is a separate track with electric karts sized for younger drivers. Children 36 inches or taller can drive on their own, which suits roughly ages 3 to 7.

Ages 10 and up

The main go-kart track is for drivers 52 inches and taller. Dual karts let an adult drive with a child passenger of at least 36 inches. Older kids also head for the Ninja Warrior course, the 360 Bike (48-inch minimum), laser tag, bazooka ball and the rock walls. The multi-sport VR simulator covers golf, soccer, baseball and more, for up to five players at a time.

Before you go

  • Every jumper needs a signed waiver. Signing it online before you arrive saves time at the front desk.
  • AeroSports grip socks are required on the attractions.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required for go-karting and mini karting.
  • Outside food is only allowed for booked birthday parties. The Snack Shack sells food and drinks.
  • What’s included depends on the pass you choose. Check current pricing and deals before you book.
  • Hours vary by day. See the AeroSports Scarborough page for today’s hours and directions.

Putting a rainy day together

  • Saturday with a toddler: Toddler Time first thing, then an unhurried hour at a library KidsStop.
  • A PA day with school-age kids: the zoo’s indoor pavilions in the morning and an active afternoon somewhere they can burn off energy.
  • Siblings of very different ages: pick one place with something sized for each of them. At our park, for example, a preschooler can do Mini Karting while an older sibling takes the main track.

Planning a birthday instead?

If a birthday is coming up, our Scarborough birthday party packages list what each package includes, how long the party runs and what happens in the party room.

How we put this list together

We included places that are indoors, in or close to Scarborough, open to the public and suitable for children. We checked every listing against its official website in October 2026. Hours, prices and programs change, so confirm with each place before you go.
